We found this bee in our house and as it was almost dead we put it on the edge of the gutter with some honey. It fell to it with gusto. It probably did not make it through the following night, but at least it had a full stomach.

A fine close-up- every detail of the bee and its wonderfully coloured ‘hairdo’ can be seen! A touching story! It is a pity that “it probabably did not make it through”! Maybe it was too cold, some weeks ago I saw some bees collecting their ‘ honey’ from the springflowers in the garden!

Original shot, good composition. I also like the lines of the wall disappearing at the horizon.

Great shot Wim. As the only registered apiarist in my little village in Australia (when I am home), I miss seeing the bees every day. There are no bumble bees in Australia but we had them in New Zealand. Aerodynamically they are not supposed to be able to fly, so it is always good to see one defying the engineers!

Do you remember this from school?

Today I saw a bumblebee.
He was on a pretty rose.
When I leaned in to look at him,
he stung me on my nose!

I wasn’t gonna squish him,
only watch and see …
but I’ll never get THAT close again
to a grouchy grumble-bee.

Cheers

Brian
