Most of the wayside chapels are dedicated to Mary and the fine shade of blue is the colour that is often used in this connection.

Ave, Maria, gratia plena,
Dominus tecum.

I remember it too: the ‘Hail Mary’: said before and after each meal in my youth.
I like the delicate shades in the gray stone and the almost powdery blue of the grotto.
