I am Wim van der Meij, an etching artist and photographer from The Netherlands.
I was born in 1949 and raised in the “Bollenstreek”; the region where the tulips are grown. Drawing had been my lifelong hobby, but after my first etching-lessons in 1977 it became my passion. I followed evening-courses at the Royal Academy in The Hague. In january 1986 I quit my job and started my career as a full-time artist. Since 1988 I live and work in a house at the old town of Zutphen on the IJssel river.Read more about me..

My etchings are permanently on show in gallery “Bij Floors de Berg op” in the Walstraat 8 at Deventer. I am usually there on Thursday afternooons.
The gallery is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays from 10.30 to 17.00 h.
Of my Amsterdam etchings a number were bought by the municipal archives of Amsterdam.
At this moment (July 2010) I am working on a new view on Zutphen; the finished state is here. Also I am working on a couple of plates the subjects of which I am showing the drawings: ‘Farmhouse’ and ‘Nijmegen, the bridge’.
Also new: the second “Imagined Bookcase”.
