Watergate (Berkelruine)

Posted on December 11, 2006

Another photo by Peter sr. (His former contribution here).
A small piece of picturesque Zutphen: a bridge that was built in 1898 (and recently restored); and in the background a part of the old town-wall that was built in the 13th century across the Berkel. This small river used to be quite important for transporting goods from as far as Germany.
A nice detail: old rails of the old tramway from Zutphen to Emmerich were used as railings of the bridge.
